Cody Rhodes kicked off Monday night’s episode of RAW and cut an emotional promo about his late father Dusty Rhodes.
Rhodes made his return to WWE at WrestleMania 38 (Night One) and defeated Seth Rollins.
Monday’s RAW opened with Cody grabbing a microphone and talking about how his father Dusty was his hero. Rhodes said that he told his father at the age of eight that he didn’t win the WWE Championship.
Cody would go on to say that he promised his father that he’d win the WWE title someday and give it to him. Of course, that didn’t happen prior to Dusty’s passing. Rhodes would go on to say that he’s coming for the World Championship and can still put it around the waist of “The American Nightmare”. Cody said he would eventually capture the title for the fans, himself, his family, and his father.
Seth Rollins’ music then hit and he came down to the ring. When Cody Rhodes extended his hand, Rollins actually shook it and walked away.
