As reported yesterday through multiple news reports, Cody Rhodes and his wife Brandi have officially left AEW and are rumored to be heading back to WWE in the near future. In terms of his departure from AEW, does Cody Rhodes have any ownership stake in the company?

According to The Wrestling Observer Radio, it would appear that once Cody resigned from AEW that he also gave up all rights to any claims or ownership to AEW. The initial thought was that members of The Elite, including Cody and Brandi Rhodes, had ownership stakes in the company but it turns out that’s not the case at all. The Elite (Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks) only have EVP positions within AEW, while Tony Khan is the sole CEO/Chairman and owner of AEW. Cody was originally intended to be one of the four big singles stars of AEW with Kenny Omega, Chris Jericho, and Jon Moxley.

As time went on, Cody’s role became to add to that and make new stars like Darby Allin and Sammy Guevara. Then Adam Cole, Bryan Danielson, and CM Punk arrived and have been featured more prominently.
