WWE Superstar Cody Rhodes is immensely proud of all the success Matt Cardona has seen in recent years and has declared the former Broski “King of the Indies.”
Cardona, aka Zack Ryder, was released from WWE in 2020 and has since reinvented himself on the independent scene and in Impact Wrestling.
Speaking about the former NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion, Rhodes told Good Karma Wrestling that he is pleased for his friend’s success. He said,
“I’m really proud of him, he’s out there doing the indie guy thing with the Indiana Jones hats. Matt has been the king of the indies now, this is going on year two, you usually only get one run in that role, he’s going on year two.”
Rhodes added that it would be “cool” if Cardona goes to AEW, but he ultimately wants to see him return to WWE.
Cardona recently teased a return to WWE, insinuating that he could face Bobby Lashley at WrestleMania 39 if Bray Wyatt is off the card.
Matt Cardona stated last month that he would love to face Rhodes if given the opportunity.
