Cody Rhodes Says He “Probably Shouldn’t Have Started The FTR Thing”

Cody Rhodes has some regrets. Among them is being partially responsible for the tag-team name of FTR used by Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler in AEW.

Following his loss to Andrade El Idolo on this past Wednesday night’s edition of AEW Dynamite, which was largely due to a sneak attack from FTR in the finishing sequence of the bout, “The American Nightmare” took to social media to comment about the situation.

Rhodes noted that he likely should not have started the “FTR” nickname joke in regards to the duo formerly known as “The Revival” in WWE.

The “FTR” name was created after a running joke on the weekly Being The Elite digital series, which saw Rhodes and The Young Bucks constantly referring to The Revival by saying “F*ck The Revival” while they were still in WWE, and questioning who was the better team — them or Nick and Matt Jackson.

This eventually prompted WWE to send a “cease and desist” letter to AEW threatening them over the “F*ck The Revival” references, which essentially resulted in the “FTR” name being born, as Cody and the Bucks simply shortened the weekly BTE digital series gag to referring to Wheeler and Harwood as “FTR” — which is the name they would go on to use when they signed with AEW.

Featured below are the comments made by Cody Rhodes regarding the “FTR” team name situation following their attack on him during his AEW Dynamite match this week with Andrade El Idolo.
