Fightful Select reported today that Corey Graves was actually medically cleared by WWE doctors at some point in 2020. WWE has yet to confirm this, but it was said it’s largely based on discussions behind the scenes.

Graves did briefly hold the WWE 24/7 Championship in 2020 despite being on a strict internal “no contact” list that the company keeps. It was confirmed that Graves is no longer on that list.

There have been pitches made, although not sure whether those were from creative or Graves himself. No ideas have made it through. Graves had to retire from in-ring action in 2014 due to a history of concussions so he transitioned into being a full-time announcer.

During that time, Bryan Danielson, Christian and Edge have all been cleared after being sidelined for years. Graves told Edge on After the Bell last year the following:

“Watching it, honestly, man, it was inspiring,” Graves told Edge on After the Bell last year. “I would say at two or three different points I went, ‘Man, I live in Pittsburgh now. I should go find Dr. Maroon.’ It just gave me that urge to do this all over again, and I don’t know whether or not that’s a possibility, but the thought was planted in my brain for quite some time.”
