ORIGINAL: Eagle-eyed fans have spotted an irregularity during the main event of AEW Dynamite, which saw the team of Swerve Strickland and Keith Lee defeat Team Taz (Powerhouse Hobbs and Ricky Starks) and the Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson). This irregularity could invalidate the title win for Swerve in our Glory.

Wednesday night’s main event was a three-way match, as the Young Bucks defended their titles against Team Taz and Swerve in our Glory. The rules of the match were that only two men could legally be in the ring at a time.

An examination of the match’s closing moments reveals that Strickland did not pin the legal man to get the win for his team.

At the 4:15 mark in the video below, Swerve tags into the match off of Ricky Starks, and Matt Jackson tags into the match off of his brother, Nick. Referee Rick Knox acknowledges that Strickland and Matt Jackson are the legal men in the match by counting two pin attempts on Strickland by Jackson: one at the 6:30 mark, and again at the 7:00 mark, and one pin attempt on Jackson by Strickland (around the 7:30 mark of the video).

At around the 8:15 mark of the video is where things begin to get confusing. Hobbs tags Starks into the match. This is despite the fact that Hobbs is not one of the legal men in the matchup at this point. That was the last “tag” in the match, as Strickland would later pin Starks to win the AEW World Tag Team Championships, and cap off an emotional victory.

Whether this discrepancy was merely an oversight, or was done by design to set up a future rematch is unclear as of this writing. None of the participants in Wednesday night’s match have mentioned it on social media.
