It’s been two months since Damian Priest won the 2023 Money in the Bank briefcase and the Judgment Day member is going to wait for the right time to cash in.
On this week’s edition of WWE’s “The Bump,” Priest discussed his plans for cashing in. He said,
“It’s just keeping an eye out. The focus right now is keeping these [tag team titles]. But I’m always conscious, always watching the champions that are left, whatever champions are left at this point. We’re always watching, and I’m always keeping an eye to see, ‘Is today a good day? Is this a good opportunity?’”
“I have a whole year, so I don’t have any rush to just cash in that contract when it’s not perfect. It has to be perfect. It has to be perfect. I’ve seen a few moments that I thought, ‘Maybe, but it’s not perfect yet.’ Right now, my focus is making sure we’re all on the same page and all champions. But when the time comes and that perfect time comes, it’ll get cashed in, and it’ll happen.”
Priest and Finn Balor won the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships at WWE Payback 2023 last Saturday.
Billy Gunn returned to the ring this past August after seemingly retiring the month before, and his former tag team partner Brian “Road Dogg” James is appreciative of Daddy Ass working everyone with his retirement.
Gunn left his boots in the ring following a defeat at the hands of House of Black on the July 22nd episode of AEW Collision, and it seemed like he had retired for real before returning on the August 23rd episode of Dynamite.
Gunn and The Acclaimed won the AEW World Trios Championships at All In 2023, and Road Dogg discussed the matter on a recent edition of his “Oh… You Didn’t Know?” podcast. He said,
“Well, look, he’s a wiz-erker. He worked us all. Man, he’s such a method actor. I think he’s very much right next to Daniel Day Lewis, as far as method acting and how far he’s willing to take the secret, with his fake retirement.”
“He took his boots off in the ring. That’s commitment to the act, to the character. Then he came back, put them back on, and won titles with them. Same boots. He’s a worker, man.”
