In the last 48 hours, several wrestling companies severed ties with Davey Richards due to allegations of domestic violence.

A bunch of promotions including OTT Wrestling, Prestige Wrestling, St. Louis Anarchy, and Team Ambition Wrestling School officially declared that they had cut ties with Richards, who later announced his retirement while denying the claims against him.

Fightful Select is reporting that MLW had already distanced themselves from Richards, who effectively parted ways with the company as of February. The contract was originally set to run longer, but MLW dropped the ball on Richards due to a “pattern of odd behavior.”

Richards was working as an agent and a backstage producer for MLW and things began on a high note, but several wrestlers had complained about Richards and how some of the things he recommended for their matches were “puzzling.”

Richards had additionally reached out to the NWA for a booking, stating that he was contractually available despite that being a huge white lie. MLW and the NWA got in touch with each other and sorted out a deal that benefited both promotions. Richards was allowed to work with Impact Wrestling as well, with Impact sending Sami Callihan to appear for MLW as part of an exchange deal.

Richards had also claimed that he was approached by AEW to wrestle Bryan Danielson. While Richards was in touch with Sonjay Dutt, AEW had informed MLW that they didn’t plan on bringing Richards in and instead used Timothy Thatcher, who according to them was a better opponent for Danielson.
