Dax Harwood Calls CM Punk “Misunderstood” & “Controversial”

Former AEW World Champion CM Punk is greatly misunderstood, according to FTR’s Dax Harwood.

Punk hasn’t been seen on AEW TV since September’s All Out 2022 pay-per-view event and is serving a suspension for his role in the backstage fight.

It has been reported that Punk is seeking a buyout of his AEW contract, something that the promotion is in no rush to grant.

Speaking on the Gentleman Villain podcast, Harwood spoke about Punk and the controversy stemming from All Out. He said,

“[He’s] misunderstood, I think. The one motto that I live by is ‘if you’re not controversial, you’re not worth remembering,’ and he’s controversial. He’s controversial only because he does go against the grain, and he doesn’t fall in line. I think, obviously, he’s an incredible storyteller. I think he is an incredible athlete.

“I wish that, and I hope whatever he decides to do or whatever comes next for him, whether it’s in AEW, which I’m hoping it is, or outside, I just hope he finds happiness because in his life, the life he’s had, he deserves it.”

Punk defeated Harwood on the March 23, 2022 edition of AEW Dynamite and later teamed with FTR for the June 1st episode of Dynamite.
