AEW wrestler Dax Harwood opened up on the day FTR (then known as the Revival) requested their release from WWE. They asked for it in January 2019, eventually being granted it in April 2020.
FTR has gone on to hold the AEW World Tag Team Championship and they currently hold the ROH, AAA, and IWGP Tag Team Championships.
Speaking to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, Dax looked back on the moment. He said,
“This is going to sound very egotistical and I don’t mean for it to, but we knew that we could do better than what we were doing, and we knew that tag team wrestling could be presented better than it was being presented. I can’t be mad at Vince. If he doesn’t like tag team wrestling, that’s okay. Because one, that’s his company. But two, that’s okay; it’s his opinion to not like it.”
