Tag team wrestling was displayed heavily during AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door. FTR became the IWGP World Tag Team Champions last night and thanked the fans for supporting them. Tag matches like the one from last night’s pay-per-view are celebrated by many fans and professionals within the industry. Two professionals who recently sat down to discuss tag team wrestling are DDP and Jake Roberts.
On their latest podcast, “DDP Snake Pit,” the two legends discussed who they think are the greatest pro wrestling tag teams in history:
“Arn & Tully,” DDP says. “I love Christian and Edge, I thought they were magic out there. Hart Foundation, really loved those guys together with Jimmy Hart and the whole deal, and I’m going back to the Valiant Brothers, Handsome Jimmy and Johnny Valiant.”
Jake Roberts then gave his two cents on the topic:
“Number one, FTR, without a doubt,” Roberts said. “They are so freaking believable, they’re so intense, they’re tough, they make you earn it … I think I’m gonna go with the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express … I’m gonna go back to the Assassins.”
There have been so many teams throughout wrestling history who have traveled around the world, wrestling in many promotions. This discussion surely will be one that will continue to take shape as more tag teams arrive on the scene.
