This past September, Mickie James announced that she would be retiring from in-ring competition and named her final run The Last Rodeo.

James has won every match since that announcement, most recently defeating Mia Yim at Bound for Glory and Taylor Wilde at Over Drive.

Last year, Mickie crossed paths with the then-Impact Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo.

The two stars feuded for about six months, which concluded with James dethroning Purrazzo and ending her reign at 343 days.

While speaking to “Women’s Wrestling Talk,” Purrazzo pitched an idea for a match with the 10-time women’s world champion. She said,

“Every time I’m in the ring with Mickie, I end up yelling I’m gonna kill you… I’m gonna kill you. And I think a casket match would be really symbolic.”

Purrazzo then discussed her desire to compete in unique stipulation matches. She said,

“There’s such a legacy that comes with [being an IMPACT Wrestling Knockout], and I think continuing to push the boundaries and do things like a Texas Deathmatch, do things like the first ever Knockouts pay-per-view main event… If my co-workers succeed, I succeed. If my best friends succeed and the people I love succeed, I’m succeeding through watching them.”

James will put her career on the line against reigning Impact Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace in a Title vs. Career match at the upcoming Hard To Kill pay-per-view event.
