As part of a SmackDown Women’s Championship feud between Becky Lynch and Alexa Bliss between 2016 and 2017, Lynch was often attacked by a masked woman named “La Luchadora”, a persona she used to defeat Bliss but was later used by Bliss herself against Lynch to re-introduce Mickie James to WWE.
While known among some fans, only recently it was confirmed that the first woman to portray “La Luchadora” as the villainous enemy of Becky was not Mickie James, but Deonna Purrazzo.
Tagged by Chelsea Green on Twitter about it, Purrazzo replied by ironically pointing out that she was TV material already. Purrazzo not being ready for television was reportedly the main reason she was not being used much in NXT, which led to her asking for her release in early 2020 and later being cut as part of the pandemic “budget cuts”.
Purrazzo had a much better career with Impact Wrestling and ended up feuding with Mickie James, the woman who in storyline had always been La Luchadora.
