According to Fightful, there is some new information regarding how the co-promotion began between AEW and Impact Wrestling. The talks began back in December 2020 after Kenny Omega defeated Jon Moxley on AEW Dynamite to capture the AEW World Championship thanks to Impact EVP Don Callis. Omega would go on to form an alliance with Callis and The Good Brothers (Karl Anderson & Doc Gallows), who are contracted to Impact Wrestling.
Gallows had informed Fightful they were talking to The Young Bucks about the idea of coming over to AEW after they had been released from WWE last April. Gallows added that Callis had been in talks with Omega and AEW President Tony Khan about this crossover for about a year before this co-promotion took place.
We will see Impact World Champion Rich Swann defend his title against AEW World Champion Kenny Omega, as Omega will also be defending the AEW World Championship in a “Title vs. Title” match at Impact’s Rebellion pay-per-view event. This will take place on Saturday, April 24th.
