Who is the greatest wrestler to make it as an actor? Well according to Rian Johnson, the answer is Dave Bautista.
WWE’s ‘Animal’ has worked in several major blockbuster projects, including James Bond’s ‘Spectre’ Blade Runner 2049, and as Drax the Destroyer in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
This week, Batista’s latest film, Glass Onion, landed on Netflix, and the movie’s director Rian Johnson had praise for the former WWE World Champion when speaking to The Atlantic’s David Sims.
“I absolutely 100 percent agree [that Batista is the greatest wrestler-to-actor ever.] And I think somebody like Paul Thomas Anderson is going to give him a real part and is going to look like a genius.
“As a person, Batista is genuinely, immediately vulnerable when you meet him, and that’s what I was excited about. This is someone who has the physical trappings of someone who would play it big, but he actually brings sensitivity to the role.”
Glass Onion is a sequel to Johnson’s 2019 murder mystery ‘Knives Out‘ and sees Daniel Craig return as detective Benoit Blanc.
In addition to Batista, The Rock and John Cena have also proven to be smash hits in Hollywood with multiple blockbusters to their names.
Batista is set to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, after being announced in 2020 but later withdrew.
