Former WWE referee Drake Wuertz may have broken campaign finance laws for using a personal loan as part of his campaign finances without disclosing this to the donator.

It was reported this week that several wrestlers donated to Wuertz’s campaign for State House in Florida’s 30th district, including Riddle, Karrion Kross, Elias, and Biff Busick (formerly Oney Lorcan.)

On Reddit, Busick explained that he did not knowingly donate to the campaign, and was under the impression he was just lending money to a friend.

Across social media, several users have questioned the legality of Wuertz’s campaign as Busick was not made aware that the money he gave would be used for Drake’s campaign.

Wuertz was released from WWE in May 2021 after a series of controversies, including storming out of a meeting at NXT TakeOver: In Your House 2020 when Triple H said all colors and religions were accepted.

A known advocate for QAnon, Wuertz also showed disapproval of staff who had received the COVID-19 vaccine.

He has served as a volunteer for Operation Underground Railroad,  a QAnon-adjacent “anti-child trafficking” charity (the founder of which had tried to legitimize the Wayfair child trafficking conspiracy theory.)

Florida’s State Department of Campaign Finance has revealed that his campaign has raised $17,733.56.
