UPDATE: Aron Rex has his new opponent for the Grand Impact Championship match at Bound For Glory. TNA has announced that, following Drew Galloway’s forced withdrawal from the match due to not being cleared from his injury, Rex will face Eddie Edwards to determine the inaugural champion.
Edwards said in the announcement, “I hope for a fast recovery for Drew, but I’m honored to be chosen to be in this match. Honestly, I feel that people get second chances in life for a reason. To me, I feel like this second chance is meant to be. For those who have been following my career, they know I’m always down to make history…and at Bound For Glory, that’s exactly what I plan to do.”
TNA Bound for Glory takes place this Sunday from Orlando, Florida and airs live on pay-per-view.
ORIGINAL: It’s official: Drew Galloway will not face Aron Rex at TNA Bound for Glory on Sunday. TNA has announced that Galloway has not been cleared for the match following his recent injury and thus will not face Rex at the PPV. There is no timetable for when he may return and an “announcement is forthcoming” in regard to Rex’s opponent.
Galloway said, “I’m upset. Clearly. This sucks. I love nothing more than wrestling and this is a match that will make history. The fact that it was against Aron Rex made it even sweeter. I’ll be watching this match closely from the Impact Zone. Aron Rex got lucky. No one can keep me from being there on Sunday.”
Rex added, “It’s unfortunate. Drew deserved this match. We will meet again. I’m focused on Sunday and finding out who I will face. I want to make history as the first Impact Grand Champion.”
