Dustin Rhodes Doesn’t Want To End Up Like Ric Flair In Retirement Match

Dustin Rhodes realizes that his career will come to an end, but doesn’t want to end up like Ric Flair.

In July, Flair competed in his final match, teaming with his son-in-law Andrade El Idolo to defeat Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal.

The match received criticism from fans, and Flair himself has said that faking a heart attack for the match was in poor taste.

Speaking on AEW Unrestricted, Rhodes was asked if he has a dream last match and mentioned Flair.

“That’s a tough question, man. It’s in my blood. I look at Ric Flair in his supposed last match and I don’t want to do that.

“As long as I can get out of the business and still walk.”

Rhodes added that he can be incredibly versatile for AEW even when not in the ring.

“I really love coaching. It’s a lot of fun for me. A lot of people don’t like it. I love it. I love putting together stuff for these kids to try to figure out.”

Rhodes last competed on the August 24, 2022 edition of AEW Rampage, unsuccessfully challenging then-Ring of Honor World Champion Claudio Castagnoli.
