AEW wrestler Eddie Kingston recently took the time to speak with Dark Puroresu Flowsion.

During the interview, Kingston touched on how he felt after his ‘dream match’ with Jun Akiyama on the AEW Full Gear pre-show, Jamie Hayter vs. Hikaru Shida and more.

You can check out the highlights from Kingston’s interview below:

On how he felt after his match with Akiyama, and how the match came to be: “After the match, I felt blessed to fight Mr Akiyama and [I] still do. Mr Akiyama gave me the confidence that I will be the world’s champion.

It [the match] came together because of me calling out Mr Akiyama on Twitter, and of course, Mr Akiyama accepted. But the ball on this match began to roll faster because of [Jon] Mox[ley] and what he said in his media scrum after his match with Hiroshi Tanahashi.

On his favorite matches from AJPW’s Kings Road era: “Wow! There are so many so only 3 is rough, and not fair to the other matches [laughs]. I have my three favorites, but there are another 2 for people who just want to get into it. Ok but my favorites [are]; Mitsuharu Misawa vs Kenta Kobashi [January 22nd, 1997]. Mitsuharu Misawa & Kenta Kobashi vs Toshiaki Kawada & Akira Taue [June 9th, 1995]. Mitsuharu Misawa vs Toshiaki Kawada (3rd June 1994).

“But two matches that are close to my top 3, [first] is a match I tell anyone who just wants to watch a hard-hitting match and not worry about watching other matches to get the ‘easter eggs’ and [I] highly recommend [is] Kenta Kobashi vs Toshiaki Kawada (June 12th 1998), and Jun Akiyama vs Hiroshi Hase (May 1st 1998).”

His favorite Joshi wrestlers past or present: Bull Nakano, Manami Toyota, Aja Kong, Kana (Asuka), and Megumi Kudo.

On his future dream matches after facing Jun Akiyama: “I have my three, but also a man in Pro Wrestling Noah called me out as well [Masa Kitamiya], and I have a dream arena [Budokan]. 1. KENTA, 2. Go Shiozaki, 3. Hiroshi Tanahashi.”

His thoughts on Jamie Hayter vs. Hikaru Shida: “I loved every second of it! Is it one of the best? [women’s matches in AEW history] Yes it is, the fight they both showed was inspiring. I won’t say who, but that match inspired one wrestler to hit the gym at 2 am.”
