Edge and Christian recently talked about the issue with Cody Rhodes not being able to use his last name on television on their latest podcast. this was something that Christian was able to relate to due to his time having to transition to Christian Cage while wrestling for TNA.
You can’t copyright someone’s birth name, so that would probably be the reason why… For those unaware, Rhodes’ birth name is Cody Runnels.
Christian Cage was mine because I used that name before I was in WWE but shortened it to Christian when I was in WWE. So when I left there was no issue with me calling myself Christian Cage but there obviously would’ve been if I called myself just Christian.
Cody is able to be announced alongside Brandi as “Cody & Brandi Rhodes.”
