According to a report from Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, Edge received a $3 million contract to work with WWE part-time with limited dates. Meltzer added that All Elite Wrestling (AEW), who were also negotiating for “The Rated-R Superstar’s” services, did not offer him that much. The report suggested Vince McMahon didn’t match AEW’s offer, he simply went above and beyond by “a big margin.”
Vince threw out a number to Edge that he knew was so ridiculously high that AEW wouldn’t be able to match it.
