Last week on AEW Dynamite, Tony Khan addressed the AEW World Heavyweight Championship and the AEW World Trios Championship situation at the start of the show. Without mentioning the CM Punk/Elite backstage drama, he announced a tournament to crown a new AEW World Champion and an impromptu trios match to determine the new AEW Trios Champions.
During the latest edition of his Strictly Business podcast, the WWE Hall of Famer gave his opinion on how Khan handled the situation last week. Bischoff wasn’t a fan of Khan not addressing why the titles needed to be stripped in the first place.
“I wish Tony had said something other than just saying he ‘vacated the titles’ because you can’t assume everyone on the show is following on the internet. You have to mention what’s going on.” Bischoff added, “To casual fans who didn’t watch anything or know anything, now you don’t know.”
As noted, The Elite (The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega) were allegedly involved in a backstage altercation with CM Punk and Ace Steel during the post-All Out media scrum. All parties have reportedly been suspended with no date on when they could return. Dave Meltzer added that there might be legal issues in play preventing anyone from addressing the situation in public.
