As we reported earlier this week here on eWn, Shane McMahon has been ‘quietly let go’ from WWE after what many people described as ‘unprofessional’ behavior during the 2022 WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view event. Shane McMahon helped produce the men’s Royal Rumble match and it resulted in many changes being made. According to multiple sources, Shane tried to make the Rumble more about himself instead of the others who were involved in it. Due to Vince McMahon’s constant vetos, there were numerous changes made to the match right up until the show went live.

According to a report from Fightful, Shane McMahon specifically wanted to enter the match in a spot that would “highlight him”. At one point, he even pitched for himself to come out at #1. Vince McMahon personally came along and informed talent and staff that he wasn’t going to do a lot of what his son originally suggested. Both Vince McMahon and Brock Lesnar were very unhappy with Shane’s ideas. While Shane continued to insist on them, they ended up being cut from the match.

There was a point where Shane was set to be #29, with Randy Orton entering at #28. Vince McMahon reversed the spots and Shane “reacted hastily”. Orton also took issue with going out to the ring using Shane’s theme. Numerous sources say Shane’s ego was “out of control” at the show and the company had no other choice but to let him go.
