UPDATE: We now have several additional details on the incident that took place between Impact Wrestling star Gisele Shaw and WWE Hall of Famer Rick Steiner at yesterday’s WrestleCon 2023 convention in Los Angeles, CA.

According to a report from Pwinsider, WrestleCon promoter Michael Bochicchio says the company did not have the ability to speak to Steiner until this morning. After the incident took place, Steiner left and headed over to the WWE Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

When the two sides spoke earlier this morning, Steiner was informed that he wasn’t welcome at today’s WrestleCon events and would not be allowed to enter the building. The company also says Steiner was brought in by a third-party vendor who purchased Steiner’s table. The official booking did not come through WrestleCon itself.

It was noted that WrestleCon is looking to facilitate a meeting between the two parties to discuss the incident. As of this writing, that has not happened.

Finally, Impact Wrestling issued the following statement on the matter:

“IMPACT Wrestling stands in full support of @GiseleShaw08 and the LGBTQ+ community. We are saddened by the incident Friday afternoon at Wrestlecon in Los Angeles and hope everyone can learn and be better from it. Thank you to the millions worldwide who have read Gisele’s statement and showed full support for her. Particular thanks go to the organizing staff of Wrestlecon as well as the IMPACT roster and crew who all handled an ugly situation with the utmost professionalism.”

ORIGINAL: As we reported last night here on eWn, Impact Wrestling star Gisele Shaw took to Twitter to put out a statement regarding an incident that took place at the WrestleCon 2023 convention which involved Rick Steiner yelling at her with derogatory transphobic language.

Earlier today, the official Twitter account of WrestleCon seemed to confirm the incident and issued an apology to Shaw. They wrote,

“WrestleCon regrets the events that took place at yesterday’s convention and apologizes to Gisele Shaw. We aim to promote a safe and inclusive environment for all LGBTQAI+ members of the wrestling community. The issue has been addressed and we hope the remainder of the convention can be a positive experience for all.”

As of this writing, Rick Steiner has not commented on the incident. Shaw claims several other wrestling legends witnessed the incident and refused to get involved.
