UPDATE x 2: As many of you know by now, Zelina Vega was released from WWE earlier today.

According to multiple sources, the release was due to WWE’s new edict banning their talent from using third-party platforms such as Twitch, Cameo and OnlyFans. Vega was notified on Friday afternoon that she was being released. As noted earlier, her tweet about unionization had nothing to do with it, as she had been informed of her release hours before she sent out that tweet.

Vega was extremely upset and very vocal about being able to continue to stream on Twitch and had been continuing her livestreams past the October 30th deadline. That is the day after several Superstars, including AJ Styles and Xavier Woods, met with Vince McMahon about the new edict. That meeting didn’t go over well.

Vega has a no-compete clause that will last 90 days. Her no-complete clause would expire just before AEW’s Revolution pay-per-view event. As of this writing, there is no word on if AEW is interested in her but it would seem likely they are.

Paige, who is another one that has been very outspoken about WWE’s new policy, took to Twitter to react to the news of Zelina Vega’s release. She simply said,

“This sucks..”

UPDATE: Although some fans were speculating online that Zelina Vega was released due to a tweet regarding her supporting unionization, POST Wrestling reports that Vega’s release was known about before she went live with her tweet.

eWrestlingNews.com has also learned that she refused to stop streaming and requested her release after a meeting with Vince McMahon and others. That release was obviously granted. She feels she can make more money by continuing to stream and also testing the free agent world with AEW, Impact Wrestling, ROH, NJPW, AAA, and others out there.

Vega has taken to her Instagram, simply saying, “See you on Twitch!”

ORIGINAL: WWE.com posted the following, revealing that Zelina Vega has been released.

“WWE has come to terms on the release of Zelina Vega. We wish her all the best in her future endeavors.”

It’s worth noting that Vega had continued to stream in recent weeks and was said to have been very upset over WWE’s new third-party edict on banning their talent from using streaming sites such as Twitch, Cameo, and other platforms.

Just prior to WWE’s official announcement that she had been released, Vega tweeted that she supports unionization.

Vega is married to SmackDown Superstar Aleister Black.
