On September 21, 2022, AEW held its second annual Grand Slam event at Arthur Ashe Stadium. It featured close to four hours of action across episodes of Dynamite, Rampage, and Dark: Elevation. Joseph also shared some observations from his experience of the event:
- Security was ramped up, possibly because of an incident that occurred during a recent tennis event where a guy tried entering the stadium with a pistol. Understandably, this meant longer wait times and stricter checks upon entry.
- Unlike last year, there were no merchandise stalls inside the stadium. They were moved to an outside secondary building for no known reason.
- Arthur Ashe Stadium is responsible for food stalls. The overall quality of food, amount of stalls, and prices were not as satisfying as last year.
- The event was not a complete sell-out (not every seat was filled), because some seats could be seen in the upper rafters. Regardless, it did not affect the quality of the show and Tony Khan announced it as the first $1 million gate for a televised event.
- There were some large pops during the show, notably for The Acclaimed winning the tag team titles and the surprise debuts of Saraya & The Great Muta. The fans left the venue extremely happy and packed the merchandise building. Many were talking about getting tickets for Full Gear.
