As seen during this past Tuesday’s edition of SmackDown Live, John Cena & Shinsuke Nakamura went one-on-one to determine who would challenge Jinder Mahal for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam. As you are aware, Nakamura went over clean and is heading to Brooklyn on August 20th to fight for WWE’s biggest prize.
The original finish of the match was posted on WWE.com by their writers & it stated that Baron Corbin came to the ring attempting to attack Nakamura & Corbin hit Cena on accident, which would allow Nakamura to pick up a win (with unwanted help from Corbin). This post has since been removed & reposted with what we saw on SmackDown Live.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that the excerpt posted onto WWE.com was supposed to be the actual finish of the match, which would have set up a Cena/Corbin match at SummerSlam. Post-SmackDown Live, Corbin attempted to attack John Cena & Shinsuke Nakamura.
