Former professional soccer star Adebayo Akinfenwa recently sat down with Cultaholic to chat about his transition to professional wrestling. Akinfenwa revealed that there were conversations with WWE.
Akinfenwa retired from his career in soccer back in May of this year. He has been training for his in-ring debut with PROGRESS Wrestling on November 27th. He is scheduled to appear at the promotion’s Chapter 146 event. Akinfenwa noted that he had had some conversations with WWE and Triple H before retiring from soccer.
Akinfenwa stated, “There were conversations. There was truth in the conversations. My team sat down with their team. Me and Triple H had sent messages back and forth, but these were times when I was 100% concentrated on football. Now I’m retired and I’ve said this, I was lucky enough to play for 22 years but now I’ve finished. I’m going to try my hand at as many different things and what lands, lands. I’m going to try and enjoy the next chapter of my life.”
