Former WCW Announcer Criticizes Kenny Omega & Cody Rhodes’ G1 Special match

New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) put on its G1 Special event in San Francisco, California over the weekend (Sat. July 7, 2018). The main event saw IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega defend his title against Cody Rhodes.

At one point in the match Omega and Cody hit a spot that left a lot of pro wrestling fans cringing. Omega hit a running release powerbomb on Cody that launched him from inside the ring to the outside and onto the floor after missing a table that he was likely supposed to go through.

After the match Rhodes noted on Twitter that he’ll be taking time off to heal his body before September 1st’s “All In.” Former WCW ring announcer, Gary Michael Cappetta, went on his official Facebook page and voiced some criticism over the spot:

“WRESTLER ALERT: Human bodies aren’t made to do this,” said Cappetta. “Please stop shortening your valuable careers. Stop limiting the health and happiness of your post wrestling lives.”
