We’ve recently reported that former IMPACT Wrestling stars Abyss and Sonjay Dutt have now started with WWE in backstage roles. Now, according to a report from Wrestling Inc., former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Shane “Hurricane” Helms will also be returning to WWE. Helms will serve as a backstage producer. Hurricane has worked with Ring Of Honor (ROH) in recent months.
Helms has been in the professional wrestling business for 20 years since signing with WCW in 1999. The report suggests Helms will begin working with WWE today (Mon. January 28, 2019), while Abyss and Dutt aren’t expected to get started until mid-February. Speaking on a media call recently, Triple H discussed what roles Abyss and Dutt could have with WWE:
“Sonjay coming in here, Abyss coming in here [in] behind the scenes roles, we’re going to see where that best fit is for them,” Levesque said.
“I’ve heard of them, I know of them. So many people speak highly of them and their jobs over the years, from a talent standpoint and other standpoint, so, I’m looking forward to working with them and seeing where they best fit through all of this, as we all are.
“Everybody here will determine where they fit, what they want to do, and how they can help contribute in the best way to the product going forward.”
