In a follow-up to the monumental signing of Eric Bischoff and Paul Heyman to Executive Director roles within WWE, PWInsider is now providing some insight on when these deals came together.
Reportedly, WWE has been trying to court Heyman for a role within WWE creative as far back as February of this year. It has been reported and widely known that Heyman had been working with individual talent within the WWE roster such as Ronda Rousey and Alexa Bliss.
Eric Bischoff’s deal, on the other hand, came together within the last few weeks as Eric was working on pre-production of a Netflix exclusive Hulk Hogan biopic. Reportedly, he will be working directly with FOX as WWE builds their relationship with the network ahead of FOX’s debut. It is also being reported that WWE approached him about the role and that his previous work in collaborating with Turner, Spike, and other networks in building past TV series was heavily factored into WWE’s decision.
These newly created roles are said to be the top of the food chain for their individual brand, with the only individual that either man would have to answer to being Vince McMahon himself. Very similar to Triple H’s role within NXT.
