Glenn Jacobs, better known to wrestling fans as Kane, has been re-elected as Mayor of Knox County, Tennessee.
Jacobs, who identifies as a Libertarian but runs as a Republican, defeated Democratic nominee Debbie Helsley and discussed his win at a watch party at the Crowne Plaza in downtown Knoxville. He said,
“It has been the honor of my lifetime to serve as mayor for the past four years and I am just so grateful that you have trusted me to work hard to keep our economy strong and to protect our freedoms and our way of life.”
Jacobs also thanked his political opponents saying he respects anyone who is willing to put their name on the ballot in the current tribal political climate.
The WWE Hall of Famer has previously been under fire for appearing in misinformation videos during the COVID-19 pandemic, in which he called doctors “sinister forces,” and later explained that the medical staff mentioned were not meant to see the video.
Jacobs won the mayorship in August 2018 and ran unopposed in the Republican primary earlier this year.
