In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, GUNTHER addressed his status for WWE Bash In Berlin 2024, expressing his belief that he will be at the event.
The Intercontinental Champion revealed that he is trying to obtain his green card. GUNTHER is unable to leave the United States for six months as he is attempting to establish residency.
You can check out some highlights from the interview below:
On facing The Miz at Survivor Series 2023: “I’m looking forward to the opportunity to being in the ring with one of the top stars of the past 10 years. I’m looking forward to proving myself against him. I’m not a typical WWE guy. I established and developed myself far away from WWE. Miz is different. He went through the WWE system, and he’s living proof of how effective the system is. He’s one of the most decorated wrestlers they’ve ever had. So it will be a clash of styles.”
On his physical transformation: “If I stay stagnant, I’ll fall behind. I always want to be one step ahead. No one ever told me to lose weight. I wanted to transform into something new.”
On his status for Bash in Berlin: “I’m applying for my green card. During that process, you can’t leave the country for a little bit. But the PLE is in August. It should be over by then.”
GUNTHER will defend the Intercontinental Title against The Miz this Saturday at WWE Survivor Series: WarGames 2023.
On a recent edition of “The Masked Man Show” podcast, GUNTHER explained his anticipation for the title defense, referring to it as a meeting of talent with completely different styles.
You can check out some highlights from the podcast below:
On his usual type of opponent in the ring: “Even though I think there’s a certain style for my matches, I like the match-ups that are like the biggest mix-up, if that makes sense. If you look just at the wrestling aspect of it, for example, obviously somebody like Chad Gable is the best opponent for me because those kinds of guys, — same with Riddle or even years ago, Tim Thatcher, Zack Sabre Jr. — those were always guys I loved to wrestle because they are those naturally gifted grapplers… It just goes very well with my style.”
On the difference in taking on The Miz: “It’s a challenge for me… He’s a completely different kind of wrestler.”
