Hulk Hogan may be considered one of the most influential names in wrestling of all time, but the Hulkster has proven to be just as skilled at exaggerating the truth.
In 2002, Hogan faced Brock Lesnar on SmackDown in a match Lesnar would win, a huge victory for the young Superstar who’d become WWE Champion at SummerSlam.
Speaking with “The Joe Rogan Experience” this week, Hogan spoke about the match with Lesnar, claiming it happened after Brock’s retirement from the UFC in 2011. He said,
“I got him first when he came back from the UFC. I was kind of winding down, putting guys over and doing my thing and Vince goes, ‘I want you to work with Brock.’ I went, ‘Okay.’
When he came back from UFC, they gave him to me first, and he was really intense, brother. He was really intense.”
Hogan added that Lesnar, nicknamed ‘Broccoli’ by the Hulkster, is a “really good friend” and praised the Beast as “one of the best workers this business has ever seen.”
