In an interview with Good Morning America at the opening of his Hogan’s Beach Shop store in Orlando, Hulk Hogan revealed how much he will actually get from his lawsuit against Gawker. He was initially awarded $140.1 million after suing in 2012. Gawker published parts of a sex tape he was in that was recorded without his knowledge. They claimed they were protected by the First Amendment because the tape was newsworthy, but the judge sided with Hogan. Gawker declared bankruptcy and settled in bankruptcy court to pay Hogan $31 million. This is only 22% of his original judgment.

Hogan said: “It was never about the money, it was never about winning or losing,” Hogan said. “I just wanted that jury to believe me.”

He said a lot of celebrities have thanked him for the lawsuit. He added he had “nothing but love” for Gawker founder Nick Denton, because he understood his position. He hopes Denton can recover from this. He had no comment about Paypal co-founder and billionaire Peter Thiel secretly funding his lawsuit.

When asked about returning to WWE, he said: “If it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be. To make peace with the wrestling world, that would be a pretty cool ending. God I’d love to drop that leg on Vince McMahon one last time!”
