Several Japanese wrestling promotions are reportedly exploring Europe for new talent for their rosters.
Fightful Select is reporting that NJPW, TJPW, Marigold, AJPW, and NOAH are showing renewed interest in some breakout stars from the UK, with several prominent figures from the European wrestling scene having been contacted about potential excursions to Japan in 2025.
The report mentions that two leading champions in Europe are among those contacted, though no specific names have been disclosed.
Europe has long served as a recruitment hub for talents like Will Ospreay, Zack Sabre Jr., Robbie X, and others who have come to Japan to achieve stardom.
Moreover, the report suggests that fans can expect more tours and collaborative events between European promotions in 2025, as several notable names are currently in discussions for appearances in the UK and Ireland in early 2025.
Cara Noir was withdrawn from the PROGRESS Wrestling’s Vendetta 2 event, where he was slated to compete against El Hijo del Vikingo.
Vikingo withdrew from the event to recover from an injury. The promotion clarified that rather than giving Noir a replacement opponent, they allowed him time to recuperate.
Fightful Select has shared further details about the canceled match and the reasoning behind its removal from the lineup.
“A lot of effort” was reportedly made to find Noir a new opponent before he was dropped from the show.
Ultimately, it was decided that Noir should be allowed to rest before he began his commitment in the United States with DEFY.
Cara’s situation was described as “sensitive” following his return from a foot injury that could have jeopardized his career.
After Vikingo became unavailable for the event, it was determined that Cara should not be added to the show without purpose.
