After suffering a fractured orbital bone during NJPW’s “New Japan Cup” tour, current NJPW United States Champion Sanada has announced that he will be vacating the championship due to those injuries he suffered back in March.

Sanada made the request that the championship be returned to the previous holder, Hiroshi Tanahashi, with the stipulation being that he automatically gets a title shot once he returns. Will Ospreay came out and argued that he should be the one to get the NJPW United States Title. Former champion Tanahashi then appeared and said he and Ospreay would settle the issue and face each another for the vacant title on May 1st for Wrestling Dontaku.
