WWE Hall of Famer Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts has taken some credit for the careers of some of wrestling’s top stars, including The Undertaker.

Debuting in 1990, The Undertaker would become one of wrestling’s most veteran performers, and feuded with Jake in early 1992.

This culminated in a match at WrestleMania 8 which the Deadman won, bringing his streak at the event to 2-0.

Speaking on the DDP Snake Pit podcast, Roberts recalled his role working with some of wrestling’s biggest stars.

Without me, there is no Undertaker. Without me, there is no Steve Austin. I even helped Shawn Michaels as much as I could. Shawn spent some time in my car. I’m the one that came up with the ‘Ladies and gentlemen, we have an urgent message. Shawn has left the building’, which is so cheap, so fu*king bullsh*t. You know?

“The Road Warriors would have never happened without me because they were under my tutelage for quite a while. Yeah, they would have made it eventually but they wouldn’t know what I’ve taught him, and I enjoy teaching.”

Roberts worked with Steve Austin in 1996, losing to the Rattlesnake in the King of the Ring finals.

It was after beating Roberts that Stone Cold would cut his iconic ‘Austin 3:16 promo.’
