James Ellsworth Reportedly Turns Down IMPACT Wrestling Deal

Former WWE star James Ellsworth was Eli Drake’s mystery opponent for “Bound For Glory” over the weekend. Shortly after his appearance, SEScoops reports that Ellsworth was actually offered a contract to join the promotion’s roster. While it was noted Ellsworth was very appreciative and gracious for the offer, he opted to decline.

This is likely due to Ellsworth holding out hope he’ll land a deal with WWE again. He is still on the company’s radar and is actually scheduled to appear at tonight’s (Tues. October 16, 2018) SmackDown 1000 special episode from Washington, DC.

Ellsworth was signed to WWE in 2016 and had fun feuds with the likes of AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose. He then aligned himself with Carmella and helped her win the SmackDown Live Women’s Championship. He was subsequently released from the WWE last year but has made sporadic appearances on SmackDown Live since.

It will be interesting to see where Ellsworth ends up when it’s all said and done.
