WWE Hall of Famer John ‘Bradshaw’ Layfield has said that he was jokingly fired by Vince McMahon in 2014.
During a January 2014 edition of the ” Legends Night” episode of RAW, JBL impersonated the Chairman on commentary, using lines from McMahon’s time behind the desk.
Speaking on his “Stories with Briscoe and Bradshaw” podcast, the former WWE Champion recalled the boss’ reaction, saying:
“I dressed up, had the bouffant hair like Vince, went to his old barber, got the stuff,” JBL said. “I was saying all the catchphrases just like Vince, like, ‘Childhood dreams come true.’ Vince doesn’t realize it for a while and finally, about the second or third match, he goes, ‘Michael, John, I don’t find that funny, you’re both fired [laughs].’”
While JBL didn’t lose his job, McMahon did fire RAW commentator Rob Bartlett in 1993, days after doing an unapproved impression of the Chairman on TV.
