Jesse Sorenson Injury Update + Huge Japan Title Change


Kazuchika Okada won the IWGP Heavyweight Title from Hiroshi Tanahashi at this weekend’s New Japan Pro Wrestling PPV. Okada was Samoa Joe’s sidekick in TNA from 2010-2011 and returned to NJPW in December before making a challenge for the belt at the Tokyo Dome Show on January 4. Tanahashi held the title since January 2011 Okada ended Hiroshi Tanahashi’s record 13-month reign as champion Sunday at New Japan Pro Wrestling’s The New Beginning pay-per-view event in Osaka, Japan. The show also saw Davey Richards and Rocky Romero regain the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship from Prince Devitt and Ryusuke Taguchi.

— Jesse Sorenson was taken to the hospital as a precaution as he was knocked out during the match and the company wasn’t taking any chances. Mike Tenay said during the pay-per-view that Sorensen had suffered some sort of neck injury. We hope to have more soon.
