Since 2019, AEW has been WWE’s #1 competitor and it appears that Tony Khan’s company is about to expand its horizons in 2023 as the upstart promotion prepares to venture into the live event business.

On a recent episode of “Grilling JR,” AEW commentator Jim Ross shared his opinions on the status of AEW house shows in the new year and how the promotion can potentially benefit by hitting the road on a regular basis with Jeff Jarrett spearheading the project as Director of Business Development. Ross said,

“I believe in 2023 that AEW will be in the house show, live event, live event business to some degree. I just think that it’s an opportunity that can be capitalized upon if, if, if AEW is strategic in their planning. I think that’s what Jeff Jarrett’s working on.”

At present, AEW’s business model is primarily centered around two weekly television programs, Dynamite and Rampage, alongside the accompanying pay-per-view events. The company can generate significant revenue by throwing live events into the mix, and it’s obvious that Khan would definitely want to capitalize on this opportunity.
