At Sunday’s Money in the Bank pay-per-view, John Cena made his return to WWE.
Following the conclusion of the main event, which saw Roman Reigns successfully defend his Universal Championship. Reigns, who had just defeated Edge, would grab a microphone, and declare that now everybody will “acknowledge him.” It was then that Cena’s music would hit. Cena would then make his way to the ring silently confronting Reigns whilst staring at his Universal Championship.

Cena, has not been seen in a WWE ring since his WrestleMania 36 defeat at the hands of “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt. However, his return to set up a match against Reigns at SummerSlam has long since been rumored. Cena and Reigns have faced off in singles competition on WWE TV just once before at No Mercy 2017, a match Reigns would win.
