WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray has said that John Cena’s 16 reigns as WWE World Champion are more prestigious than the 16 World Title reigns of Ric Flair.

Cena won his first WWE Championship at WrestleMania 21 in 2005 and captured his 16th at the 2017 Royal Rumble Pay Per View.

Flair, an eight-time NWA World Champion, six-time WCW World Champion and two-time WWF Champion had his first reign in September 1981 and his 16th in 2000.

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Bully Ray said that the fact that Cena accomplished his in just one company in a much shorter time makes him the better 16-time champion:

“John Cena has the highest number of WWE World Heavyweight Championships. Since it is the same number, Cena is at 16 WWE World Heavyweight Championships and Ric Flair is at 16 total World Heavyweight Championships, WWE and other companies included, Cena’s record holds more water to me. And that’s who we should be talking about when it comes to Randy Orton breaking a record.”

Orton is a 14-time WWE World Champion and there has been speculation he will surpass Cena and Flair.
