On the latest episode of A&E’s WWE Rivals, we were treated to backstage footage of what went on between John Cena and The Rock backstage after WrestleMania 28.
The two men could be seen embracing backstage.
“They f**king loved it,” Cena said. “They did,” The Rock replied. “Thanks for putting up with my sh*t. I’m like a weird business type guy but I always have a method to my madness,” Cena added. “I know. No, no, no, I know, and I know you now. So, I got you,” The Rock affirmed.”
Later on in the episode, Cena went on to reveal the basis of the conversation and disclosed that he had essentially worked The Rock into a shoot in the build-up to one of the biggest matches in the history of WWE.
“I thought we had a great conversation. The basis of my conversation was, ‘I hope you can see now that this was just business. And I’m sorry that I didn’t let you in on the fact that it was business. And that was a choice I made and that was not fair to you because I didn’t give you a choice. You had to come at me with your best.'”
John Cena returned on this week’s episode of RAW, reluctantly accepting United States Champion Austin Theory’s challenge for his title at WrestleMania 39.
Meanwhile, The Rock was rumored to be challenging the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39 but was reportedly unable to make time for the build-up and the match.
Reigns will instead be defending the titles against Cody Rhodes, with the WWE Universe thoroughly invested in The American Nightmare’s quest to ‘finish the story.’
