John Cena made his WWE in-ring return this past Friday night as he joined forces with Kevin Owens to defeat The Bloodline’s Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn in the highly-anticipated main event showdown on the final SmackDown of 2022.
As usual, Cena’s appearance on live television resulted in a significant viewership boost for WWE SmackDown.
Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics reports that SmackDown had an overnight viewership of 2.441 million viewers, which is higher than last week’s preliminary and final figures (2.213 million in hour 1 and 2.376 million in hour 2). While last week’s episode had a demo rating of 0.55, this week’s rating is unknown.
The final numbers will be out on Monday afternoon.
