Johnny Elite’s (John Morrison’s) Status After AEW Debut On Dynamite

Johnny Elite is not All Elite despite debuting for AEW on this week’s episode of Dynamite.

Elite (aka John Morrison) was the Joker in the Owen Hart Foundation Men’s Tournament match but lost to Samoa Joe.

Mike Johnson of Pwinsider reports that while Elite isn’t signed, no-one is ruling out that possibility:

“Hennigan, who debuted last night as Johnny Elite, we are told he is not signed to the promotion as of this writing but the door is open for additional appearances down the line after he wrestled Samoa Joe last night.”

Elite has made a career of changing his name for various promotions, having worked as John Morrison (WWE,) Johnny Impact (Impact Wrestling), and Johnny Mundo (Lucha Underground).

Earlier this year, Elite debuted for AAA as Johnny Superstar, a dig at WWE’s term for talent rather than calling them professional wrestlers.

The former ECW Champion returned to WWE in late 2019 after an eight-year absence but was released in November 2021.
