Dean Ambrose, the former WWE Superstar was the guest on the latest episode of Chris Jericho’s Talk Is Jericho podcast. Since his departure from the company he has reverted back to his prior name before WWE, Jon Moxley.
During the podcast, Moxley says that he knew he was leaving the company on July 18th, 2018. Citing creative frustrations over the years as the reason for his departure.
Moxley would go on to say that while checking out other promotions, a flame was reignited creatively for him. He started coming up with scenarios while recovering from his injury.
Regardless, he had all intentions of honoring his contract with WWE. He informed the company during Royal Rumble weekend his intent to depart, giving them his 90-day notice. He would also say he never even looked at the contract renewal offer that was made.
Interestingly enough, the Jon Moxley teaser vignette was recorded in February 2019. During the shoot, McMahon called attempting to get him to extend his contract and do the post-Wrestlemania European tour. He declined, informing McMahon that he had movie commitments at that time.
It just so happens that the movie commitment was the trailer he was filming, the return of Jon Moxley. The teaser was released a minute after his contract with WWE ended.
