It was announced during a press conference yesterday that Jushin Thunder Liger will be retiring at next year’s Wrestle Kingdom event in the Tokyo Dome.

Liger, who is currently 54, said that he hopes to wrestle all around the world until that bout next year. He will not be a part of the New Japan cup because he will be in Ireland but he hopes to make an appearance at the G1 Supercard event in Madison Square Garden.

American fans might know him from his stints in WCW. He had a wonderful match against Brian Pillman at SuperBrawl II in 1992, and would regularly compete in the Cruiserweight division during 1995 and 1996 when WCW had a working relationship with New Japan.

WWE fans were able to experience Jushin Thunder Liger one time at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn in 2015. Liger competed against Tyler Breeze in what was a very fun match.
