At NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17, Tama Tonga defeated Karl Anderson to win the NEVER Openweight Championship for the second time in his career.
Anderson dropped Tonga with the belt before the bell rang but the Good Bad Guy recovered and fired back with two consecutive Gun Stuns to dethrone the WWE Superstar and win the title.
During the post-match media scrum, Anderson paid respect to Tonga by labeling the new champion as the “big superstar.”
